New Jersey Office
Dear Friends,
The State of New Jersey is facing a $6 billion deficit due to the coronavirus pandemic, and there were concerns that nonpublic school funding would face severe cuts in the coming budget.
We are therefore cautiously optimistic with the budget the legislature has proposed to the Governor as there are increases in three key areas. Specifically,
· Nonpublic school security funding was increased from $150 per student to $175 per student.
· Nonpublic nursing funds was modestly increased from $97 per student to $102 per student.
· Importantly, the total allocation for nonpublic auxiliary services (special education) was substantially increased by $2.1 million.
However, the budget process is ongoing right now and legislators are scrutinizing every detail. Your help is needed to ensure that the increases are sustained in the final budget!
Please contact your legislator by clicking here to ask them to support these increases. The budget is up for a full vote in the Senate next Wednesday, September 30th so time of essence!
Thank you!
Warmest regards and best wishes for a Ksiva v'Chasima Tova,
Mr. David Gross Rabbi Avi Schnall
