Q: I bought non-mevushal wine from a store that has non-Jewish workers there. Is it a problem that they are looking at the wine?

A: Rav Moshe Kaufman responds:

Chazal discuss the prohibition of non-mevushal wine that is drunk, poured or touched by an akum, but does not discuss merely looking at it. However, the Shelah and Darchei Teshuvah (YD 123:2) cite Rav Menachem HaBavli that anshei maaseh would not drink from such wine that an akum looked at. This is clearly an extra chumra, and l'halacha it is muter to use (Ashrei Ish YD 8:19). Even those who are stringent about this, the Chebiner Rav (Dovev Meisharim 1:124) writes that it is only when the wine was viewed in a kos. When the wine is still in the bottle, even a clear one, the chumrah does not apply (see Piskei Teshuvos 272:3).

H3 Florida Business Halacha Summit

Once again this year, close to 350 businessmen and rabbanim came together on Wednesday March 26th, for inspiration, hadrachah and networking at the Florida H3 Business Halacha Summit. The Diplomat Hotel and Convention Center provided a new, centrally located venue to enable greater participation from the many communities across South Florida. And once again this year, the staff and volunteers of Agudath Israel of Illinois put together a memorable program that was enjoyed by all.

Prominent poskim were featured throughout the day, including Rabbi Zev Cohen, Rabbi Shmuel Honigwachs, and Rabbi Doniel Neustadt. The packed schedule included presentations from many local rabbanim as well. Rabbi Yaakov Blejer, Rabbi Yisroel Moshe Janowski, Rabbi Noach Light and Rabbi Dovid Schoen all spoke in concurrent sessions on the common halachic challenges that come up in the workplace.

The highlights of the day were the morning Keynote Session addressed by Rabbi Moshe Tuvia Lieff and local businessman Hillel Adelman, the gala lunch where the attendees heard an inspirational message from Rabbi Efrem Goldberg representing the summit's main sponsor, The Florida Chesed Network, and the afternoon Spotlight Session, featuring a lively Q & A with Rabbi Cohen and Rabbi Lieff on the Challenges of a Ben Torah in the Workplace.

The closing keynote session provided an appropriate ending to the busy day with an address from Rav Sholom Kamenetsky and a personal message from well-known businessman Ralph Herzka. In response to the feedback received from previous attendees, more networking time was added into the schedule, and this year the enhanced tearoom sponsored by Jack Levine and Associates was very busy as people connected looking for new opportunities.

Overall the reaction from the South Florida community was extremely positive. A special note of appreciation to the hardworking leadership and staff of Agudath Israel of South Florida for all their efforts and participation in the planning and presentation of the successful event. To learn more about the day, and to see recordings of the presentations when they are posted to the public, visit www.h3summit.org/florida.

Yahalom Fathers Chaburah & Mothers Virtual Chizuk Event

This past Sunday, Yahalom Chicago hosted events for both mothers and fathers. The fathers participated in the 2nd Chaburah led by Rabbi Moshe Revah, Rosh HaYeshiva, HTC – Beis HaMidrash LaTorah. The Chaburah was at the home of Tuviyah and Hadassa Spector , where the fathers were able to gain valuable insights and connection.

At the same time, Yahalom mothers participated in a zoom with Devora Boroosan, an educator, counselor, and community leader. The topic of the zoom was "How to Connect to True Freedom" which provided much needed chizuk as we move towards Pesach.

What a Busy Week for Bnos!

Bnos' busiest week, so far this year, started off on Sunday with an exciting and enjoyable Bonus Rosh Chodesh Event featuring an amazing professional Magic Show and a wonderful Dance Show. To make the dancing even more exciting, the girls enjoyed dancing with pom-poms to add to the ruach to use – and keep – while participating in the dancing. The activity for grades 1-4, which was held at the Agudah Community Center, attracted over 160 girls.

The week continued with all the girls from Arie Crown and JDBY receiving their great prize for participating in this year's 9-week Call-A-Bubby program. The program was for girls in grades 2-5. As an aside, many parents wrote on their daughter's chart when it was handed in, how much they and their daughter's bubbies appreciated the program.

Finally, flyers were handed out, as well, for this year's Pesach Mitzvah Matzos program, which has participation of hundreds of girls over Yom Tov. Click here to download the flyer.
