[chicago-aneinu] URGENT! Please Daven for Yanky Ostreicher in Bolivia

  Monday August 6, 2012 1:51 PM   Yanky Ostreicher, who has been held without formal charges or bail in Bolivia since June 2011, is currently in the hospital. After Yanky coughed up blood for two days, the local Human Rights organization contacted the prison warden on Erev Shabbos to try to arrange transport to a hospital, but they were unable to do so. Roberto Desogus, of The United Nations High Commission of Human Rights, met with Yanky in Palmasola Prison on Erev Shabbos. Upon noticing Yanky’s deteriorating health, Mr. Desogus contacted the warden, who finally agreed to provide an escort. Yaky was transferred to the hospital on Shabbos. The US State Department says that it is continuing to “monitor” the case. The efforts to help Yanky by Yidden all over have resulted in letters to Bolivian officials, the U.S. State Department and the White House from numerous elected officials. There has been a Congressional Sub-Committee Hearing on the violation of Yanky’s human rights, but despite this all, our brother seems no closer to coming home. “We must continue to pressure Bolivia and U.S. elected officials to treat this matter with the urgency that it deserves,” an askan told Matzav.com, which has led the frum media coverage of Yanky’s case. Readers are encouraged to call the offices of Senator Charles Schumer (212-486-4430) and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (212-688-6262) and express growing alarm for Yanky, an innocent U.S. citizen who sits in prison praying for salvation and who needs the assistance of his elected officials. Demand that your elected representatives adopt Yanky’s cause and bring his plight to the White House and State Department. Please continue davening for Yaakov Yehuda ben Shaindel. {Noam Amdurski-Matzav.com Newscenter}
