Hodu la'Hashem ki tov ki l'olam chasdo.
We thank God with all our hearts for the success of the critical action by the United States Air Force in destroying Iran's nuclear sites. We are immensely grateful that President Trump is standing with Israel in both word and deed.
The war is not over. The Iranian regime continues its vicious efforts to indiscriminately bomb civilian targets in Israel. They and their proxies will continue to seek to harm Jews and Americans everywhere. We pray to Hashem that He bring Israel and America swift and complete victory and that He provide protection from the harm that Iran and its proxies and supporters continue to try to inflict.
The evil Iranian regime burst onto the world stage during the hostage crisis of November 1979, when 66 Americans, including diplomats and other civilian personnel, were taken hostage at the Embassy of the United States in Tehran. That evil continues with the hostage crisis of October 7th, perpetrated by Iran funded surrogates in Gaza. We pray that God bring every one of the remaining hostages home soon.
Israel is charged with serving as an ohr lagoyim, a light unto the nations. Since the days of our patriarch Avraham, we have produced that light by inspiring faith, kindness, and morality. Yet to generate light one must also do the difficult work of eliminating the forces of darkness. As Avraham defeated the forces of Nimrod, Israel is doing the same in partnership with the United States of America.
We call again for action in the three critical areas of doron, tefillah, u'milchama; encouraging the friendship of those who are helpful, praying to God, and taking action.
We call upon each of you to do these three things:
- Gratitude and Prayer: Recite the thanksgiving prayer said every Shabbat morning, Nishmat Kol Chai, and Psalms 100, 121, and 130.
- Act: Given recent events, please be extra mindful to observe established security protocols for your personal and communal security.
- Encourage: Every American Jew – Democrat or Republican, Orthodox or otherwise – should express appreciation to the President. Please do so now. You can use this link to send a message to the White House. Write your own brief message or feel free to cut and paste this:
Thank you, President Trump, for your decisive leadership in obliterating the cataclysmic threat posed by the world's lead sponsor of terror, the Iranian regime, that aspires not for the wellbeing of its own people but for death to America and to Israel. Knowing that the Ayatollah's policy was "America Next", you courageously joined your Israeli partners in the effort to eliminate the Iranian threat. All of us who truly seek and celebrate peace join in praising and thanking you for your historic efforts to achieve it.
We pray for you and for the success and safety of Americans, Israelis and their armed forces in the days ahead. God bless President Trump. God bless the United States of America.
We close with sincere prayers for the geulah sheleima, complete redemption and peace for our troubled world.
Sincerely,
Mitchel Aeder
