September 1, 2026 Dear Alumni and Friends, As summer comes to a close, we are grateful to reflect on an incredible season at HTC. Yeshivas HaKayitz celebrated another amazing summer with record enrollment, bringing tremendous Torah, ruach, and energy to our campus. Last week, we were thrilled to welcome back students across all our divisions as they returned from summer break. Our classrooms and batei midrash are once again buzzing with learning, and we look forward to a year filled with growth, achievement, and continued hatzlacha. We invite you to take a few minutes to explore the new site and see what makes FYHS so special. 🌐 Visit us today: fyhs.org  Yeshivas HaKayitz 2026 Reaches Record Enrollment This summer, HTC's Yeshivas HaKayitz celebrated a milestone, welcoming a record 185 campers from 12 states and three countries for an unforgettable summer of Torah learning, growth, and camaraderie. Nearly 40% of campers traveled from out of state, including more than 50 boys from Los Angeles and Florida! The summer's success was made possible by an exceptional team of 63 staff members, all but two of whom were themselves former Yeshivas HaKayitz campers. Sarah Hartman Women's College Students Get Together for "Art in the Field" Students at the Sarah Hartman Women’s College of Touro*enjoyed "Art in the Field," one of our most popular summer offerings for the required Arts course. After an intensive three-hour Biology class, students traded textbooks for paintbrushes, heading outdoors to paint, create, and enjoy a change of pace. Ozer Katz, FYHS 1997 Current Location: Bet Shemesh, IL Profession: Head of Telecom Operations at RakutenViber Tell us a little bit about your family:  Married with 5 kids What is your favorite memory/(memories) from FYHS/HTC/Kayitz: Chagim in the Yeshiva, especially Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, and Simchas Torah. Being there in the Beis Midrash with the entire Yeshiva was an uplifting experience. I always looked forward to that. I also loved playing football with Rabbi Ginsparg. We also had some interesting teachers over the years, like Mr. Hein and Mr. Peterson. I especially enjoyed having Rabbi Weiss both as a rebbe and for math class. Please share a lesson/takeaway from your time at FYHS/HTC/Kayitz: It was a great opportunity to be there. The students and teachers were people to connect with and grow with for the rest of your lives. I'm still in touch with many classmates and staff from there. There are a lot of personal connections with various rebbeim that you take with you throughout your life. Advice for current students: Take advantage of everything that the Yeshiva has to offer, such as classes or opportunities to get involved in various organizations or volunteering. It was an open-minded place that allowed us to flourish in different areas. Guys from my class are still in the Yeshiva as leaders, such as Rabbis Zimmerman, Sheinfeld, and Freund and we also have had many make aliya.  Anything else to share: I really enjoyed my time at the Yeshiva. I was one of three members of my family to attend and my father was on the board for many years. We felt it was a positive influence on all our lives and the community as a whole.  Eric Schubert, FYHS 1995 Current Location: Memphis, TN Profession: I have been doing Salesforce.com administration for the last 20 years.  Tell us a little bit about your family:  I am married to Charna. We have three children. Jason, 22, got married to Sarit last year. He is graduating from Yeshiva University in January. Becky is 19 and will be attending Yeshiva University starting in January. Our youngest, Benjy, is 14 and is a freshman in high school here in Memphis. What is your favorite memory/(memories) from FYHS/HTC/Kayitz: I loved Purim there, it was always a lot of fun. I still remember our class renting a helium tank and filling up the dome in the beis midrash with hundreds of balloons which started to fall down during megillah reading. Being an out of towner from Cleveland, dorm life was really fun. At the time, half of our class was from out of town and many of the in-towners also were in the dormitory during the week too.  Please share a lesson/takeaway from your time at FYHS/HTC/Kayitz: I always loved sports, and the Yeshiva gave me the chance to be a leader there. I ran the intramural basketball and softball leagues. I ran the scoreboard during the Yeshiva team's home games. I also got to be gabbai. I learned how to be a leader. Advice for current students: Take advantage of the time to just learn and grow. Once you get into the real world, it is a lot harder to learn and make it to minyan. I'm able to make minyan 3 times a day now, but it's a lot more challenging than when you're in the Yeshiva. So build the habits now! Anything else to share: Work hard and do the right thing. Honesty is always the best policy! More Alumni Spotlights Divrei Torah from Alumni and Rebbeim Writing the Song of Ha'azinu By Joshua Mishkin The term “this song” found in our pasuk is a reference to next week’s parashah, Ha’azinu. And based on this pasuk, Chazal famously derive the mitzvah for everyone to write his own Sefer Torah. But the charge to do so is not explicit. So how did Chazal settle on this understanding? Read More Reverse the Curse By Rabbi Moshe Schechter Rashi famously quotes the Midrash which explains this pasuk in connection with the קְלָלוֹ – the curses or admonitions from last week’s parashah.
