The Gemara describes Tu B'Shvat as the Rosh Hashana L'Elan, the New Year of the tree—singular, not plural. Why?
With Succos behind us and Pesach still ahead, Tu B'Shvat is a spiritual oasis, a reminder that growth continues beneath the surface. Tu B'Shvat reminds us to hold onto our tree, the Etz Chayim of Torah as we travel through the long winter months devoid of holidays.
It is no coincidence that tomorrow we complete the Sifrei Neviim in Nach Yomi, and on Shabbos, we begin Sefer Tehillim. The very first perek describes a tree as a metaphor for a person rooted, flourishing, nourished by the Torah and its values.
This is our call to action. As we mark the Tu BShvat, the Rosh Hashanah of the Tree, let us recommit to growth. Join Torat Imecha Nach Yomi, deepen your learning, and strengthen your connection to Torah—the Etz Chayim that sustains us through every season.
Wishing you a meaningful Tu B'Shvat!
