For close to 45 years, Agudath Israel of Illinois has helped provide the greater Chicago Jewish Community with a growing number of Pesach related programs and services. Boruch Hashem, this year was no exception. Below is a brief list of the services provided: Pesach Guide- Coming in at over 100 pages, the Guide was mailed out to close to 4,000 homes and hundreds of copies were placed in area stores. With everything from halachos to recipes and stories to important lists/charts, the Guide has become a must have for Jewish homes before, during and even after the Yom Tov.
Pre-Pesach Shiurim Series- Given by Rabbi Moshe Kaufman, Rav – Congregation Adas Bnei Yisroel and Menahel and Moreh Horaah of the Midwest Bais Horaah, for men (New) and women to help both with Halacha-based Pesach preparation.
In conjunction with the emphasis of the dissemination of Hilchos Pesach, the Midwest Bais Horaah – under the supervision of Rav Shmuel Fuerst – offered extended hours for asking shailos, with a guarantee of a Moreh Horaah answering the calls.
Community Shaimos Drop Off- Tons of shaimos dropped off during the 4 hour Sunday afternoon time period.
Hagalos Kailim- Available for 2 nights to help families and individuals prepare their pots, pans, bechers etc. for Pesach use.
Pre-Pesach Garbage Removal- For the 39th and 50th Wards in conjunctions with Alderman Silverstein and Alderman Nugent along with the Department of Streets & Sanitation.
Be’ur Chometz- With a record number of individuals and families coming to safely burn their chometz before the zman; under the supervision of the Lincolnwood Fire Department and with numerous fire safety steps provided. |
