Dear YU Community,

Welcome to the May issue of the View from YU. Commencement season has arrived!

On Thursday, May 28, Yeshiva University will proudly celebrate the Class of 2026 at the 95th Annual Commencement at Louis Armstrong Stadium at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

More than 5,000 students, faculty, alumni, family members and friends will gather to honor a new generation of graduates shaped by academic excellence and values-based education, prepared to lead with character, conviction and a deep commitment to YU’s core values.

This year’s ceremony, themed “America 250,” marks the nation’s milestone anniversary while highlighting YU’s 140-year role in American higher education. U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee will deliver the commencement address and receive the University’s highest honor for global leadership, the Presidential Medallion. A leading advocate for the U.S.-Israel relationship and a prominent voice on faith and public life, Ambassador Huckabee will speak at a moment when the longstanding bond between the United States and Israel is more vital than ever, grounded in shared democratic ideals and respect for human dignity.

In this issue, you’ll also read about the Class of 2026’s nine valedictorians along with a range of news-making people and events:
  • U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, Chairwoman of House Republican Leadership for the 119th Congress, joined Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman, President of Yeshiva University, for a special edition of “Great Conversations” focused on higher education, free expression and institutional accountability.
  • In a powerful collaboration, Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology and Wurzweiler School of Social Work presented a major interdisciplinary conference examining antisemitism through the lens of social science. “Antisemitism in the United States Today: Current Social Science Research” drew more than 250 scholars, social scientists and community leaders for a day of learning and dialogue.
  • At the Shevet Glaubach Center’s Third Annual Dream Dinner, 150 students connected with industry professionals in a dynamic evening of mentorship, networking and career exploration. Emmy-winning Yosef Herzog ’07SB of NBC’s Today show shared his unconventional path from finance to media, encouraging students to pursue opportunities beyond traditional expectations.
  • Dr. Paul Russo, founding Dean of the Katz School of Science and Health, University Vice Provost and clinical professor of data science, was elevated to senior member of IEEE, the world’s largest professional association for engineers and technologists.
During this Commencement season, we also applaud the more than 1,700 students across YU’s graduate and professional schools who have earned or soon will earn their degrees this month.

Congratulations to all on a job well done!
