Hi,

Let's get back into it! Happy erev Purim!

(note: For those of you who signed up for our tznius initiative, I will be in touch as soon as I can.! I did not forget you!, thank you)

๐ŸŽญ We're in the last month of the year, the 12th month, where all the kochos, the attributes of all the months together have built up and lead to this month of Adar – it has so much in it for us!

Hostages: sadly , there's nothing newer to report. However, this is happening in ADAR, the month that turns around for us from "avel to yom tov" from mourning to joy – so it's up to us to do like Mordechai did in Shushan – raise your voice and "Vayitzak tza'aka gedolah u'mara" – He screamed out a loud, great and bitter cry!

And this started the process of their salvation – and we can do the same. Scream! Cry! Beg and plead – when the craziness is at its height, when the dancing and the tipsiness is going on, when everything is swirling around us – cry and beg and plead, we have SO much power on this day!

For now, here's the most recent list as I have it at present:

List of remaining hostages in English

List of remaining hostages in Hebrew

Shemiras Halashon initiative as a zechus for each remaining captive. You can each take on a small slot of time to be extra careful with lashon hara, as a zechus for a particular hostage. Fill it in here:

Purim: We can TELL the King what to do??!!

I got SUCH a great clip from Rav Elimelech Biderman about the koach of Purim, and what's the story with Haman saying he will "tell" the king to hang Mordechai. How do you "tell" the king?? You can ask, you can plead, but to tell??
You can hear this right here. It's such a great insight and gives us SO MUCH koach to use on this special day of Purim as we're about to go into it!

I loved it! There's English subtitles on the clip so you'll understand it.

NES in England!

Did you hear this one??

Earlier last week, about 30 or so high school girls in Manchester were on a bus for a school trip…when the bus started smoking and smelling like gasoline…the teacher wants the bus driver to stop but he refused at first!! Until the teacher forced him to stop and pull over…they managed to get all the girls off, even having to pull some of the girls off physically because they were so shell shocked…and just as all the girls were off and safe, the bus exploded!

There was nothing left of the bus, barely a skeleton of it, but all the people were saved! Hodu l'Hashem ki tov – an outright nes! Someone I know who has family there told us the school made a 'seudas hoda'ah' the next day to publicly thank Hashem. YES , Hashem is watching over us everywhere in the world.

Speaking of which:

Here's an exercise we can ALL do:

Can you make yourself a little pad of paper? Each and every day write down ONE thing that YOU saw yourself of a favor Hashem did for you, something you were saved from, or some other way you saw Hashem that day, something special you noticed He did for you…and see how you feel exactly one week later…I'd LOVE to hear what you come up with. Anybody I know that's done this, the results are incredible. And then you start seeing SO much that you feel like Hashem is just sitting over your shoulder, giving you all kinds of small (and big!) favors all the time!

Here's one of my own… ⬇

I was making up cute little shaloch manos literal baskets for some little people – very little ones.

The baskets are plastic and reminded me of those old time shopping baskets every Israeli had back in the day…but small and cute.

I filled it with some small bags of stuff but what I really wanted were some plastic dishes…yet, I had no time for going out to a store and there was nothing near me. Well, the following day I ended up being with my sister on a main street outside my neighborhood…it wasn't the street (I thought!) I needed but wow, look at that, there's a toy store right at my feet!

So I went inside. Toys hanging everywhere, all of it Purim stuff that I didn't need or loud, noisy toys I wouldn't buy…I asked the bored-behind-the-counter-fellow if he knew of any dishes toys or something like that. He showed me where and there on the shelf I saw stretches of all kinds of stuff that didn't fit what I needed.
BUT

Just as I was about to leave the aisle, a small package of toy dishes caught my eye – in a simple, plastic net bag with a label, right price, and cute stuff and guess what?? The best part? It had EXACTLY and I do mean EXACTLY enough of each type of plate, cup, fork and spoon and pouring thingy to be for three – and that was EXACTLY what I needed!

I was able – for just 12$ -- get something cute to fill those baskets with, that did not break the bank AND was generous, age-appropriate, durable and well – cute! And just like that, without even knowing I'd be there and without planning a single thing, I had exactly what I needed to fill in those cute little baskets.

Oh. And did I mention this?

It was the very last one on the shelf of the store…

Miracle story from his time in captivity…by Omer Shemtov

I just got this story a few days ago and I have to admit that at first it sounded way out – really? Is what I was thinking…well, I should not have doubted Hashem nor the fact that we got to see yet another miracle within all the pain…I'ts Omer himself that is telling this over.

First part of the story:

I heard the first half of this told by Itai Regev (held with Omer and released in the first deal.) He shared that together they found a bottle of grape juice, and decided that they'd make kiddush each Shabbos.
Omer said, "But we don't know how long this will be, Shalit was here for years!" So they just made kiddush on the bottle, poured a drop into the lid and drank a tiny sip, and poured the rest back in. Itai did that for the few weeks he was held. And Omer said that he'd continue doing it each Shabbos until he was released.

And now Omer is released and he finishes his side of the story:

Omer says:

"While I was in captivity, me and another captive, we decided we wanted to have kiddush every Friday night. We found a small, half empty bottle of grape juice. So each Friday night I'd fill a small cap with it and we made kiddush over that grape juice. But the amazing part of it – over 5 months, yet each week the bottle did not run out, and even more: it did not spoil or go rotten.

I couldn't get over it! It reminded me a little bit of that story we learn about the miracle of the "pach hashemen" of Chanuka, the story how the oil was only a little bit yet it lasted the full eight days…here I had it happen to me, right there in the depths of Gaza…and this is only one small story of many that I witnessed there in captivity. It just showed me…it showed me how good G-d is to me, how much G-d cared about me…and made me feel that G-d was right there, with me, the whole time…"

You can listen to Omer tell this story himself right here.

Whispers of Miracles – Even in that Place

Just one more for now…this one is again about Agam Berger. This young lady has captured the hearts of Am Yisrael. The kiddush Hashem she has made during her time in captivity with the worst enemies of our nation, and how she handled herself, is mind-boggling -- and she was only 18 years old! (It's been more than a year so by now she is at least 19.) Her courage and faith are something that has given literally hundreds of thousands of people strength.

I read this piece that Rabbanit Yemima Mizrachi wrote:

The famous Rabbanit Yemima Mizrachi got to meet Agam recently. And Rabbanit Yemima asked her, "Agam. Please teach me – how did you wait?"
"I have thousands of women who come to me, all of them waiting. These are waiting for a child, these are waiting for a zivug (spouse), these are waiting for a Yeshua, these are waiting to get married, to give birth, to find a lost one, waiting to be healthy…

Tell me Agam – how did you wait?

Agam was silent for a long moment. Then she answered Rabbanit Yemima:

"First, I held onto the thought of when all of this would end, when I would finally be freed from that place, when I'd finally go home again. When I'd be rescued."
"And, I kept collecting small signs.

Small signs of hashgacha (providence), of different ways Hashem was helping me, with me in that place. Whispers of miracles. Every day. This gave me the koach."

***

Speaking again about Agam, I was in a car with a few friends and one of them had an amazing story about Agam that just happened to her own daughter!

She said that her daughter works as a madricha in a seminary in the Rova (Old City in Jerusalem.) The seminary decided to bring Agam in to speak to their girls – you can just imagine how excited and eager the girls were to meet and hear from this famous young lady, one of the many hostages we've all been davening about so much.

The girls were eagerly awaiting her arrival when one of them screamed out – she's HERE!! The girls surged forward to greet Agam as she came in and they went WILD with joy to have her with them, alive and well – dancing and singing and crying and singing some more at the top of their lungs!

My friend said that afterwards her daughter described it as "Ima – today I got a very, very small glimpse of what it will be like when Moshiach comes and ALL our hostages from every where are reunited with us and when all the lost people come back, when we are all really together. It was that powerful."

I got a shiver up my spine when hearing this – I can even feel the powerful vibes just thinking about it!! It's so true!

Where is the Mommy in the Video?

This is a true, very powerful story, told to me from my friend Chani:

Last week, my first-grade daughter had her siddur party at school. It was a beautiful event, full of music, costumes, and the sweet voices of the children singing. As I watched, I took short video clips rather than one long recording, wanting to be present in the moment. Later, we gathered around the computer to watch them, and my four-year-old daughter noticed something. She saw the other mothers sitting in front of me but couldn't find me in the video. "Where are you?" she asked. I explained that because I was the one holding the camera, I wasn't in the video—but I was the one capturing it all.

Her question stuck with me, and I realized what a powerful lesson it holds about emunah (faith). Just because we don't see someone doesn't mean they aren't there. In fact, the one behind the camera is the most involved, directing the entire experience.

It's the same with Hashem.

Sometimes, we look around and wonder, Where is He? Does He see me? Does He care? But the truth is, He is there the entire time, orchestrating everything, guiding our lives even when we don't recognize it. The very fact that we can't see Him is proof of how deeply involved He truly is. After all, He's the One overlooking and overseeing the entire show.

Really last one and then we gotta go and finish getting ready for Purim, ladies!

In the "Ten Minutes till Shabbat" emails from Ayalah Haas, (you can get them here) she wrote about something INCREDIBLE happening davka this week, davka this PURIM!

Did you know that there's an expected total lunar eclipse to happen this weekend?? Here's what Ayalah says about it:

Over Purim (March 13-14), the lunar eclipse is expected to unfold over six hours, with a changing view of the sky as the moon moves through Earth's shadow. The most dramatic phase - the total eclipse - will last 66 minutes, giving plenty of time to witness the moon's eerie transformation into a deep red.

That's what's called a Blood Moon๐ŸŒ˜

Ayalah wrote to me and said she looked up the times this will happen (written in Israel time zone times:)

Begins: Thu, Mar 13, 2025 at 23:57

Maximum: Fri, Mar 14, 2025 at 02:58

Ends: Fri, Mar 14, 2025 at 06:00

Duration: 6 hours, 3 minutes

And then Ayalah went on to quote sources of how this seemingly scary phenomenon – when the moon turns a deep red – is actually not a scary sign – but rather, according to our Sages (the Radak) it's a good sign! It means that it's a sign that the evil people will fall, symbolizing the fall of the wicked.

And that should give us tremendous hope.

Let's pray this Purim like Esther Hamalka did – "Vatipol lfnei raglav, v'tefch v'tischanen bo" – she fell before His feet (when the verses say "haMelech" it references Hashem, Esther was begging before Hashem, not only Achashveirosh) she fell at his feet and wept and pleaded before him:

"Kay-li, kay-li!"

Hashem – my G-d! Please don't forget us! Please remember us and redeem us – now!

Have a meaningful and powerful Purim full of prayer, laugher, song and tears of truth.

A frelichen Purim!

All the best

Tamar Ansh

With hope and prayers for our Redemption b'karov, very soon.
