Tehillim 121
In this perek, David HaMelech tells us how Hashem is our guardian (v.4). He is always watching us to protect us (v.4). This thought gives us a warm, comforting feeling.
Hashem is like a shadow to us (v.5). Just as a shadow follows every move a person makes, so too, Hashem follows our lead. If we are compassionate to others, He is compassionate to us. If we safeguard the word of Hashem, He will safeguard us.
Segula for this perek: For protection for one who goes out alone at night. (From the Sefer Shimush Tehillim attributed to Rav Hai Gaon (969 -1038).)
פרק קכ"א
א. שִׁיר לַמַּעֲלוֹת אֶשָּׂא עֵינַי אֶל הֶהָרִים מֵאַיִן יָבֹא עֶזְרִי:
ב. עֶזְרִי מֵעִם יְהֹוָה עֹשֵׂה שָׁמַיִם וָאָרֶץ:
ג. אַל יִתֵּן לַמּוֹט רַגְלֶךָ אַל יָנוּם שֹׁמְרֶךָ:
ד. הִנֵּה לֹא יָנוּם וְלֹא יִישָׁן שׁוֹמֵר יִשְׂרָאֵל:

ח. יְהֹוָה יִשְׁמָר צֵאתְךָ וּבוֹאֶךָ מֵעַתָּה וְעַד עוֹלָם:
1. A song for ascents. I shall raise my eyes to the mountains, from where will my help come?
2. My help is from Hashem, the Maker of heaven and earth.
3. He will not allow your foot to falter; Your Guardian will not slumber.
4. Behold the Guardian of Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
5. Hashem is your Guardian; Hashem is your shadow; [He is] by your right hand.
6. By day, the sun will not smite you, nor will the moon at night.
7. Hashem will guard you from all evil; He will guard your soul.
8. Hashem will guard your going out and your coming in from now and to eternity.
