In a matter of days we will celebrate the Yom Tov of Shavuos, a commemoration of the day in which we stood, K'ish Echad B'lev Echad and were Mekabel the Torah. In a less than a year - on January 1st, 2020 – Klal Yisroel will join together for another celebration of Achdus and Torah as we celebrate the 13th Siyum HaShas of Daf Hayomi. Over 200,000 people are expected to participate, and the Kiddush Hashem will be unprecedented.
In anticipation of the incredible celebration of Jewish unity and Limud Hatorah that the Siyum represents, Agudas Yisroel has launched two programs: Chavrei HaSiyum, a framework to encourage every person to increase their own learning and Masmidei HaSiyum, an initiative aimed at increasing the excitement of our Tinokos Shel Bais Rabban. Currently Chavrei HaSiyum has over 95 Shuls and over 4,000 members signed up, with more being approached and committing every week. To learn more, click here. Masmidei HaSiyum has nearly 30,000 children signed up and we are on track, Be'ezer Hashem, to surpass our original goal of 50,000 children! To learn more click here. Of course, we cannot forget the reason we have the Siyum in the first place. To honor those that rain or shine, home or traveling, set aside time every day without fail to learn the Daf. The Agudah, through its Daf Yomi Commission, has taken on the role of encouraging and supporting the Lomdei HaDaf not only on the occasion of a Siyum Hashas, but for the other 2710 days of the cycle as well. The Commission's National Director, Rabbi Eliyahu Simcha Bamberger is hard at work supporting new shiurim, organizing a Siyum in a different community for every Mesechta, disseminating resources for Magedei Shiurim, and organizing relevant learning materials and programs. For more information, you can reach R' Bamberger at EBamberger@agudathisrael.org Even if you are one of nearly two thirds of Daf Yomi learners that do not attend a Shiur, there is still a lot the Daf Yomi Commission can offer you, as everyone who attended the recent R' Yisroel Belsky Chulin initiative can attest. Finally, stay tuned as tickets to the Siyum are going on sale soon! To be notified when that happens as well as all other Siyum news click here
Wishing you a wonderful Yom Tov!
