Message from the Dean

This week we commemorated the birthday (in 1773) and yahrtzeit (in 1827) of Rabbi DovBer, the second Chabad Rebbe, also known as the Mitteler Rebbe.

One of his distinguishing traits was his ability to elaborate at great lengths on topics of Chassidic philosophy. He penned many voluminous manuscripts and would deliver long talks, leaving listeners spellbound by his every word. If his finger were to be cut, it was said, instead of blood a gush of Chassidism would emerge. It was the very essence of his being.

In this week's Torah reading, Vayishlach, we read about Jacob's unwavering commitment to his mission, balancing his spiritual endeavors with his physical responsibilities. His preparation for his encounter with his brother Esau—prayer, strategic planning, and gifts—reflects the harmonious blending of divine service with worldly engagement.

The Mitteler Rebbe exemplified this balance in his own life. His tireless efforts to teach and explain Chassidic philosophy were rooted in a deep awareness of every Jew's essential and unbreakable connection to Torah. Just as Jacob wrestled with an angel and emerged victorious, symbolizing the eternal strength of the Jewish soul, so does the Mitteler Rebbe's legacy inspire us to reveal the inner depths of our connection to G-d and His Torah.

May we be inspired to strengthen our bond with Torah and mitzvot, tapping into the essence of who we are—a people intrinsically connected to G-d through His wisdom, revealed in the teachings of Torah and Chassidism.

Shabbat shalom,

Rabbi Yitzchok Wolf

Bring light to their future: Support the new girls' wing

As the lights of Chanukah approach and the calendar year draws to a close, we are reminded of the power of hope, renewal, and the enduring miracles that light up our lives. At Cheder Lubavitch Girls School, we are striving to create a miracle of our own, the completion of the new girls' wing, a state-of-the-art facility designed to inspire, educate, and empower our students.

The girls eagerly await the day they can step into their new classrooms, filled with the promise of endless possibilities. But to make this dream a reality, we urgently need to raise an additional $2.5 million. What greater gift could there be this Chanukah than ensuring these young minds have a place to grow, learn, and thrive?

Your end-of-year contribution is more than a donation; it is a commitment to the future of our children and our community. By partnering with us, you will be helping to complete a space that embodies the values of excellence, tradition, and inspiration.

Every gift matters, and time is of the essence. To make your Chanukah gift, please click here or contact us directly at rabbiwolf@clhds.com or 773-716-6521. Together, let's bring the light of education and opportunity to our students and ensure a brighter future for all.

May your Chanukah be filled with blessings, joy, and the radiant light of giving.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Rabbi Yitzchok Wolf
