| Once again this year, the community came together in support of the Midwest Bais Horaah, an Agudah Illinois project under the auspices of Dayan Harav Shmuel Fuerst Shlit"a.
As a prelude to the campaign, the Dayan spent most of Shabbos Parshas Naso inspiring the mispallelim at various West Rogers Park shuls. Friday night the Dayan gave a fiery drasha to Kehilas Nachlas Boruch after Kabbolas Shabbos. On Shabbos afternoon he addressed the Avos U'Banim at Bais Medrash Mikor HaChaim, and stayed to greet everyone there personally. He then addressed an overflow crowd of women at the shul, speaking about Emunah and Bitachon. He went on to Shaarei Tzedek Mishkan Yair where he shared interesting summertime Shailos and Teshuvos with the kehilla. The visit concluded with a large crowd at shalosh seudos in Adas Yeshurun, where the Dayan shared interesting stories of his early years in Psak Halacha and how he forged a close relationship with the Posek Hador Hagaon Rav Moshe Feinstein zt"l. The response from the WRP community was overwhelmingly positive and the visit was extremely well received.
On Sunday, after the start of the annual 36-hour Charidy campaign, the MBH held its annual Evening of Inspiration at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tzvi Ray. After a brief welcome from the host, Rav Avrohom Chaim Agishtein, Assistant Rav of Kehilas Nachlas Boruch and the newest Moreh Horaah of the Bais Horaah, delivered Divrei Pesicha. Rav Agishtein described the achrayus that symbolizes the Dayan's role of leading psak in the Chicago community for the last 45 years, as well as the achrayus the members of the MBH carry for both the individuals and the organizations of the community. The guest speaker was Rav Mordechai Kalatsky, Rav of Knesses Yisroel in Minneapolis, MN, who spoke about the ability of one to grow through small changes and how to capture the lightning of Har Sinai and turn it into meaningful growth, and how the members of the Bais Horaah are examples of that greatness.
The attendees enjoyed a tasteful fleishig buffet and even a surprise appearance of the Rita's truck for desert, courtesy of MBH volunteer R' Meir Gluck. With much siyata dishmaya and thanks to the many volunteers, the annual campaign that took place Sunday and Monday was also successful, raising the funds needed to cover the annual budget for Dayan Fuerst and the rabbanim of the Bais Horaah. The MBH is looking forward to another year of serving the community with its shiurim, publications and the highly popular shaila hotline.
