Strengthening Torah Life. Advocating for the Community. Serving Each Individual. | | February 14, 2022 - 13 Adar 1 5782 News from the Agudah:
- Montreal: Please join for Pirchei's 40th Annual Siyum Mishnayos! Details below.
- Illinois's tax credit scholarship program has been incredibly successful, with nearly 30,000 scholarships having been awarded since the program began. The demand for scholarships, however, has been astronomical with more than 170,000 applications over the same time period. State representative Curtis Tarver sponsored a bill that makes two enhancements to the program that would allow additional children to receive scholarships, and provide more stability and continuity for students currently on scholarship. House Bill 4126 was heard in committee today and Rabbi Shlomo Soroka was selected to represent the coalition, testifying in support of the bill. Click here to view the testimony.
- Tomorrow, Purim Katan, is Rav Shimon Schwab ZT"L's yahrtzeit. We're pleased to share with you (below) a video recording of Rav Schwab speaking at the 9th Siyum HaShas of Daf Yomi. Rav Schwab's address there, in English, is just as relevant now as it was in 1990. For an idea of what kind of person Rav Schwab was, you might enjoy reading from the Jewish Observer article in his memory. Click here.
- For mothers of children with special needs, there are burdens that go beyond navigating the obvious challenges. Carrying those burdens can be a little easier when you know you're not alone. See below for more details about a spa day getaway last week from Yahalom Chicago.
- And finally, we are very pleased to share that over 135,000 people joined Agudah's affiliate, Am Echad's One Kosel campaign! That's 135,000 people telling the Israeli government: "No, don't undermine halachah and the religious standards that we've kept for centuries!" The campaign is coming to a close. We're still looking for 15,000 names to join! We encourage you to sign the petition at OneKosel.org, and share with your friends and family. If you don't have web access, you can call 917-284-8144 to sign up.
- Oh, one more reminder: Bnos leaders, call in tonight for a special evening of chizuk. Details below.

Carrying those burdens can be a little easier when you know you're not alone. That's why Yahalom Chicago hosted another event for these mothers on Sunday, Feb 6th. A spa day getaway gave the mothers an opportunity to hear words of inspiration by Mrs. Eve Levy, enjoy a delicious brunch and be indulged by various spa vendors while enjoying connecting and learning from each other.
In the words of a mother who attended, "I just want to thank you for an absolutely amazing event today. From the camaraderie to the speaker, food to spa treatments, raffles, and gifts, you and your team thought of everything." A second mother expressed, "It's so liberating to be with so many mothers with similar challenges and being able to open up to each other in a safe space." | | Bnos Virtual Evening of Chizuk | | Attention all Bnos leaders: Join Bnos Agudas Yisroel for an evening of Chizuk and fun!
