Last week, a delegation from Agudath Israel of Illinois of 10 community and school leaders joined over 200 people from across the country in traveling to Washington, D.C., to advocate for school choice. The proposed Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) bill is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at creating a $10 billion tax credit scholarship to help fund private schools and religious school tuition. This legislation has the potential to revolutionize education nationwide, empowering parents to choose the best education for their children.
The Illinois delegation met with congressmen, congresswomen, and key staff members, ensuring our voices were heard loud and clear. The group met with key staff from Congresswoman Mary Miller's office (R-15), Congressman Brad Schneider and staff (D-10), and Congressman Darin LaHood and staff (D-16). The meetings were productive and impactful, and the lawmakers were engaged in the topics at hand.
While we cannot predict the future, we are optimistic that this bill has a realistic chance of passing. We will continue to work tirelessly to push for our community and share the progress. |
