[chicago-aneinu] Chicago Families Need School Supplies!

The Chesed Fund is in great need of school supplies!

Here’s a mitzvah you can do for as little as a penny that should serve as a zechus for a refuah sheleima for the victim's of today's terrorist attacks and Chicago cholim.

A community member recently walked into an Office Depot where they were selling folders for a penny a piece. She bought a handful and checked out. Then she stopped, turned around and went back in – and bought 800 for the Chicago Chesed Fund for $8!

Office Depots around the city are running penny and quarter specials on lots of school supply items between now and Labor Day. This week’s sale will end Motzaei Shabbos! When you shop for your own family, please buy extra and donate it to the Chicago Chesed Fund.

Many of these specials have limits – and it seems that the community member got lucky when they let her buy 800 folders – but tell the store manager you are buying extra for charity, and you may be able to exceed the limits. Also, if you are a teacher and a member of Office Depot’s “Star Teacher” Program, many stores will allow you to purchase extra.

School supplies can be dropped off, in bags, on the porch of 8620 W. Hamlin in Skokie, Sunday through Wednesday, or at the Chesed Fund warehouse, 7045 W. Ridgeway in Lincolnwood, Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Tizku l’mitzvos!
