B"SD Please pass on to your family and friends...Thank you! Hello Ladies! Wishing You and Your Families a Happy TU B'SHEVAT!! Enjoy! TONIGHT! Tu B'Shevat, is the 15th of Shevat and is celebrated this year TONIGHT! Wednesday evening, January 27, and Thursday, Jan. 28. Tu B'Shevat marks the beginning of a "new year" for trees. This is the season in which the earliest-blooming trees in the Land of Israel emerge from their winter sleep and begin a new fruit-bearing cycle. Tu B'Shevat marks the beginning of potential. Halachically, the "New Year for Trees" relates to the various tithes that are separated from produce grown in the Holy Land. These tithes differ from year to year in the seven-year Shemittah cycle. The point at which a budding fruit is considered to belong to the next year of the cycle is the 15th of Shevat. Many mark the day of Tu B'Shevat by eating fruit, particularly from the kinds that are singled out by the Torah in its praise of the bounty of the Holy Land: grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives and dates. Tu B'Shevat Seder: Some have the custom of a Tu B'Shevat Seder. Heard from Rebbetzin Tziporah (Heller) Gottlieb: Buy 15 kinds of fruit, and between each fruit, say one of the 15 Song of Ascents (Shir Ha Ma'alot) from Tehillim 120 - 134. It was the custom of the famed Kabbalist Rabbi Isaac Luria ("Arizal") to eat 15 varieties of fruits on the 15th of Shevat. courtesy of Aish.com This link CLICK HERE (courtesy of Kashrut.com and Rav Moshe Vaye's Sefer Bedikas HaMazon) provides a list which lists the names of fruits, whether or not checking is required, and how the checking must be done in America: CLICK HERE Auspicious Time to Daven: Tu B'Shevat is an auspicious time to daven - especially for a beautiful esrog for Sukkos.
