Subject: What's Holding Us Back from Writing Halachic Wills?
While learning the sugyos of Yerusha at the end of Maseches Bava Basra, many of us were reminded that the Torah's guidelines for inheritance don't always reflect the way things are handled today.
Take, for example, the way daughters are excluded from a standard Torah inheritance — unless a halachic will is put in place. But it's not just about sons and daughters.
We've heard from many people about the real-life challenges that arise:
• Dividing assets fairly
• Managing complex estates or businesses
• Children taking care of aging parents
• Wills written too late, when decision-making is already impaired
These are sensitive issues, and unfortunately, they're often addressed too late — or not at all.
At All Torah, as part of the Orthodox Union's broader efforts to support Torah learning and living, we're exploring how to help more families create halachic wills and avoid unnecessary conflict. But first, we want to understand: what's holding people back?
We've commissioned a brief, anonymous survey to get a clearer picture — and we'd be grateful if you could take a few minutes to share your experience or thoughts.

Your input will directly help us find better ways to support the community — and make sure Torah values guide not just how we live, but how we plan for what comes after.
Warm regards,
The All Torah Team
