BAIS HAVAAD ON THE PARSHA 5773 Parshas Korach: Public Property
In this week's parsha we read about Korach and his followers. The Torah says that at one point, Moshe prayed to Hashem: "Don't accept their mincha offering!" Rashi explains this to mean that Moshe prayed to Hashem that He shouldn't accept Korach and his follower's korban tamid - their daily communal offering.
The Netziv questions this, based on the Gemara (Chagiga 6) that states that following the sin of the meraglim, ordinary Jews didn't take part in the korban tamid -- only the Leviim sacrificed the korban tamid!
The Mitzpe Eisan writes that although the majority of non-Leviim didn't participate in the korban tamid, the righteous non-Leviim did. Perhaps it can be suggested that Korach's followers were originally among the righteous until they became caught up in the Korach argument. As such, it is possible that these men did actually partake in the korban tamid.(AUDIO HERE)
