"One who contributes from his wealth for the purpose of writing or publishing a book of a tzaddik --

Behold, at any given time, and in any corner of the world, that a person studies from this book, the tzaddik on high evokes merit on behalf of the donor through whom the book was disseminated."

--The Rebbe (Igrot Kodesh, vol 2)

Dear Friend,

Today, 18 Elul, is the auspicious day which marks the birth of the "two great luminaries," Rabbi Yisroel Baal Shem Tov and Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, founders, respectively, of the general Chasidic movement and the Chabad Chasidic movement. Their legacy continues to grow and thrive till this very day, with more and more people studying their teachings and following in their footsteps.

In honor of this special day, help us publish a classic Chasidic discourse, in English translation, by Rabbi Shalom DovBer of Lubavitch.

The Simple Servant is part of a legendary treatise delivered by Rabbi Shalom DovBer from 1905 through 1907.

The treatise was revolutionary in its wealth of topics and profundity, and this is the first translation into English of a discourse in this historical series.

I encourage you to visit our website and donate towards the publishing of this Chasidic text in honor of, or in memory of, a dear departed one.

Please visit: The Simple Servant and help us reach the goal needed for reprinting this book.

Thank you for your continuous support.

With all good wishes for a sweet and blessed New Year.
Rabbi Yosef B. Friedman
