Do Your Part to Clear the Streets Dear Neighbor, Mother Nature has been hitting us with everything she has to give this week. Now, with the snow currently falling, and more predicted for the weekend, Streets and Sanitation needs your help. Several snow plows have gotten stuck due to cars parking too far into the street, which is making it difficult to keep the side streets clear. Please, make sure to park as close to the curb as possible! Chicago has seen an entire winter's worth of snow in just three weeks—the worst 3-week stretch since 1979. It is vital that the plows are able to get down every street, but we need everyone's cooperation to make that happen. I know it is difficult, but if snow is piled up by the curb, please shovel it out or find another spot. Blocking the street not only prevents your block from being plowed, but it also could impede fire trucks and ambulances, creating a genuine emergency. Please also make sure to shovel around the fire hydrants on your block. Every second counts with a fire, and the last thing we want is for the firefighters to have to spend time digging the hydrants out before they can get to work.
