News from the Agudah:

  • "As a six-year old child, Rabbi Joseph Breuer saw his grandfather, Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch, for the last time. The little boy held the old man's hand and refused to let go. At the time of his death ninety-two years later, Rabbi Breuer still tenaciously held his grandfather's hand; not for a moment did the Hirschian ideal depart from his consciousness. From his rise to prominence and leadership in Frankfurt to the Hitlerian vale of tears to the rebirth of his K'hal Adas Yeshurun in Washington Heights, Rabbi Breuer hewed to the vision of Rabbi Hirsch." Today marked the 41st yahrtzeit of Rabbi Dr. Joseph Breuer zt'l, see below to read this article written in his memory by Dr. Ernst L. Bodenheimer with Rabbi Nosson Scherman, for the Jewish Observer in 1981.

  • See below to watch a Video Update from the Agudah: Rabbi Shlomo Soroka, Director of Government Affairs for Agudath Israel of IL, explains the Illinois redistricting process and the need to keep communities together. For more on the IL redistricting process see here.

  • New York City Council member and candidate for Brooklyn Borough President, Robert Cornegy visits the Agudah headquarters to talk about his vision for Brooklyn. See below for pictures.

  • Tragically, hundreds of thousands of Americans have died from COVID-19, and many families, including many in our own community, struggled to pay the funeral costs. This week, FEMA's program to provide funeral expense assistance for COVID-related deaths went into effect. Expenses incurred after January 20, 2020 are potentially eligible for reimbursement through this program. For more information see here.
