Subject: [chicago-aneinu] Updated List - Please Say your Tehillim on Shabbos - Message

I have attached the updated Refoeinu list.

BS"D

Dear Aneinu Members,

The Talmud states, "Rabbi Yochanan says: If you saw a generation whose troubles inundate it like a river, await the coming of the Mashiach..." (Sanhedrin 98a) This week we saw streets, shuls, yeshivos, and homes being inundated with water. We were shocked by images of waterlogged sifrei Torah being rescued from rivers of water that caused the destruction of everything we hold to be sacred. We watched as floods caused mass destruction and the loss of lives, including that of Rav Shmuel Dovid Weissmandel zt"l, son of the famous Rav Michoel Ber Weissmandel who risked his life to save Jews during WWII. All of this happened the week before Rosh Hashana, the Day of Judgement. We are told that everything is decided for the coming year on Rosh Hashana. Everything that happened this past year was decided last Rosh Hashana.

In a few days we will be standing in shul reciting the words, "...who shall live and who shall die, who shall live a full life and who shall die before their time, who shall die by water and who by fire..." I'm sure as we say the words of Une'saneh Tokef images of this past year will flash before our eyes. This has been an emotionally draining year as we experienced one shocking tragedy after another. We must make our tefillos count this Rosh Hashana. We can't have another year like this year. Next year has to be better. We have to put our hearts and souls into our tefillos. We will be standing in front of The King of the entire world who has the power to change everything! When we say the words, Hashem is KIng, we have to really mean it! We have to make His will, our will. We have to be grateful for the privilege of being His servants, and we have to do His mitzvos with simcha. We have to really desire, in the depths of our hearts, the coming of the geulah shlema when everyone in the world will know that Hashem and His Torah are the only truth in the world. We have to really want Hashem to be King. We are so close. We can feel that something huge is happening in the world. We have to make that last great effort. We can do it! We have so much to look forward to! A beautiful world filled with peace, joy, and the glory of the revelation of Hashem is just around the corner!

Please join Jews around the world this Sunday at 12 noon as we unite to daven for the geulah and hear words of chizuk from an amazing lineup of speakers. You can sign up at  https://www.unitedforgeulah.com/ (see flyer below)

Please remember to say your Tehillim on Shabbos. You may check the Shabbos Tehillim spreadsheet if you are unsure which kappitlach you signed up for.

Wishing you all a beautiful Shabbos and a ksiva v'chasima tova,
Chaya Miriam
