Dear Chana,
With Rosh Hashana just days away, I'm writing to you because Amy needs your help.
You can give Amy life - Jewish life - by clicking here.
Amy and her family live in an affluent community on the North Shore. And while her parents identify as Reform, Amy has no Jewish affiliation at all.
A junior at high school, Amy long ago stopped allowing her parents to drag her to temple on Rosh Hashana. Her only Jewish connection is the family's Passover Seder, at which she makes a brief appearance out of respect for her aging grandmother.
Amy is well on her way to becoming a Jewish adult with no connection to Judaism.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
You can help make Judaism relevant and meaningful to Amy. Right now.
Amy has spent much of the last year-and-a-half holed up in her room because of Covid-19. But this week Amy goes back to school – and the Jewish Student Union (JSU) club on her school campus will soon reopen.
JSU clubs, run by NCSY, offer public school teens like Amy the chance to learn about Judaism and its relevancy to everyday life. The biweekly clubs provide teens of all Jewish affiliations with positive Jewish experiences, a forum to ask questions, and the opportunity to meet other Jewish teens.
JSU clubs are unique in that they meet unaffiliated Jewish teens where they are – in their public schools. And clubs are free of charge, so all teens can participate.
You can give unaffiliated Jewish teens like Amy an easy, meaningful way to connect to Judaism. Right now. In their public schools.
- For just $36, you can sponsor a month of JSU clubs for 1 unaffiliated teen.
- For $72, you can sponsor a month of JSU clubs for 2 teens.
- For $180, you can sponsor 5 teens.
- For $360, you can sponsor 10 teens.
Donations of any amount make a difference! And when you donate, there's no telling how far you'll donation will go. For many teens, JSU clubs are the "door" that leads to further Jewish engagement and Jewish growth.
This Rosh Hashana, give unaffiliated Jewish teens like Amy the gift of life – Jewish life.
May we all be inscribed in the Book of Life.
Sincerely,
Rabbi Donny Schwartz
Regional Director, Midwest NCSY
