On Rosh Chodesh Av we recite Hallel just as we do on each Rosh Chodesh. With a month with such tragedies, one might think that it would not be appropriate to celebrate the first day of this month. Perhaps, the message of Hallel is to emphasis that two-thirds of the month are days of consolation and hope. As a nation, we have the capacity to hold two very different emotions - to mourn and move forward at the same time.

Join the OU Women's Initiative at ou.org/women/video on Friday, July 29 at 9 am EDT for our virtual Rosh Chodesh Av shiur with Dr. Danielle Bloom. Please note that the shiur is is pre-recorded.

Dr. Danielle Bloom has been teaching Torah and psychology for over twenty years. She serves as the Tanach Department Chair at Naaleh High School for Girls in Fair Lawn, NJ. Her passion is applying the ancient Torah text to our lives today. A graduate of Stern College for Women, with a master's degree from Touro College, Danielle completed her doctorate in Jewish education and administration at the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration at Yeshiva University.

All the best,
