A Message From Rabbi Moshe Schwed

Dear All Torah Friends,

As we approach the end of Chanukah 5784, I'd like to share a brief thought.

The Midrash Tanchuma (Parshas Ki Sisa) describes a conversation between Moshe Rabeinu and G-d. When G-d said to Moshe to write the Torah, Moshe requested to write the Mishnah as well. G-d responded that in time the Torah will be translated into Greek, and the nations will proclaim ״אנו ישראל״- "We are the Jews."  The Midrash continues by relating that G-d told the nation: "The way I'll identify my children is through the secrets they know. Those secrets are Torah She'baal Peh - the Mishnah."

The Midrash highlights the unwritten Torah as our hidden secret, the precious commodity that defines who we are and differentiates us from the rest of the world.

The menorah, which is the central mitzvah of Chanukah, represents Torah She'baal Peh.  The All Torah platforms give us opportunities to engage in Torah She'baal Peh, our "hidden secret," enabling us to proclaim אנו ישראל. We hope that G-d is looking down upon us and responding  בני הם.

These are my children who know my secret and are easily identifiable as my beloved nation.

As we light the last Chanukah candle and the year draws to a close, I ask you to consider All Torah in your charitable giving.
