"And HaShem remembered Sarah"

This week's Torah portion brings the joyous news of the birth of the first Jewish child, holy in the sanctity of Israel—a pivotal moment marking the purpose of the world's creation: the birth of the Jewish people. Rebbe Nachman teaches that the ultimate purpose of birth in this world is to reveal the honor of God, with every birth serving as a vessel to receive divine influence, the source of all true pleasure and delight.

In our generation, people are constantly searching for pleasure and fulfillment, often looking in the wrong places. The declining birth rates in recent years are alarming, compounded by ideologies promoted by figures such as Kamala-Amalak and others, which seek to distort the essence of humanity and gender under the guise of democracy—efforts that lead to nothing but harm. Yet no mother would trade the deep joy of standing under her son's wedding canopy or experiencing the unique pleasures and pride of raising a child for any other fleeting comfort.

Though challenges are inevitable for everyone, embracing divine influence with the intention of honoring God brings unparalleled happiness. The trial of our generation stems from forces that seek to undermine the value and sweetness of having children, attempting to convince society that fulfillment should be sought elsewhere. May God help us elevate His glory in the world and merit to see the complete redemption soon, Amen.

Shabbat Shalom,

Chaim Kramer
