OFFICE OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS Dear YU Community, Welcome to the November edition of the View From YU!   With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it is the perfect time to reflect on the bonds that tie us to family and friends and to give thanks for the many achievements we share as a community. In that spirit, we invite you to read this month's edition, where you will find inspiring stories and the latest news from across our campuses. Here are just a few highlights: On Sept. 30, YU's Lamport Auditorium resonated with prayer, hope and unity as 500 community members joined Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman, President of Yeshiva University, for Remembering Oct. 7 Together, a solemn event reflecting on the attacks of Oct. 7, 2023. Breaking new ground, the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology opened the Lemle Clinic—the first East Coast facility dedicated to treating non-verbal learning disorder, a condition impacting how individuals interpret cues like body language and facial expressions. From Sept. 30 to Oct. 1, the Katz School of Science and Health hosted the IEEE 4th International Conference on Digital Data Processing, bringing together top experts in data science, AI and cybersecurity. Dr. Honggang Wang, head of Katz's Computer Science and Engineering Department and recent recipient of a $400,000 NSF grant, chaired the event. Last month, the  Aaron and Blanche Schreiber Torah Tours program celebrated its 50th anniversary as more than 90 YU students brought their passion, energy and values to over 25 Jewish congregations for Simchat Torah. Since 1974, YU students have shared their love of Torah with hundreds of communities across North America. Congratulations to Dr. Ronnie Perelis, associate professor of Sephardic Studies and director of the Rabbi Arthur Schneier Program for International Affairs, on being awarded a $299,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to translate two early modern Jewish texts. YU proudly welcomes Rivka Sullivan '28S and Aaron Sisser '28YC to the Honors Leadership Society's YU-Einstein Medical Scholars Program. The program offers a select group of high school seniors a premier undergraduate honors education at YU, with early assurance to medical training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
