Subject: Today Is a Special Day!
| Dear Friend, Today is the 76th yahrzeit of the Rebbe's father, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, of blessed memory. A profound Torah scholar, who served as the rabbi of the Ukrainian city of Yekaterinoslav, now Dnipro, he is said to have composed thousands of pages of original Torah thoughts and discourses. Extant today are only those he penned on the margins of the few books he had during his final years, while in exile in far-off Kazakhstan. More than a decade after R. Levi Yitzchak's passing in Alma-Ata, in 1944, these writings were brought to the United States, where they reached his illustrious son, the Lubavitcher Rebbe. In the 1970s, the Rebbe published his father's writings in five volumes. The publisher was, naturally, Kehot. It is highly appropriate, that on this special day, that we donate to the Rebbe's prized institution, Kehot. I encourage you to visit our website and donate towards the publishing of a Chasidic text, or dedicate a book in honor of, or in memory of, a dear departed one. With all good wishes, Rabbi Yosef B. Friedman
