Mrs. Tzippy Staum-October 19, 2020

You are part of a growing community of women joining together monthly on Rosh Chodesh for inspiration and connection. This month, Chodesh Cheshvan is known as Mar Cheshvan.  The classic reason is that mar means bitter as there are no holidays in Cheshvan.  After the spiritually intense month of Tishrei, we are left bereft from the opportunity to draw closer to Hashem.  The Midrash Yalkut Shimoni explains that the word mar actually has a positive connotation.  It comes from the word "head" or "master", an equivalent of the title, "Mr.".  How does this month earn this title?  The first Beit haMikdash was completed in this month of Cheshvan.  While it was a tremendous feat, the moment of joy was not complete as it was not dedicated until close to a year later in Tishrei. The Bnei Yissaschar shares while the first Temple was not dedicated in this month of Marcheshvan, the Third Beit Hamikdash will be dedicated this month - giving this month a reason for prominence and distinction.  May we see the fulfillment of this midrash in the month of Marcheshvan 5781.

I look forward to meeting you virtually and being inspired together. Please join us this Monday at 12 noon EDT to hear Mrs. Tzippy Staum.

Mrs. Staum is the Administrator of Judaic Studies, SINAI Schools at Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey

Chodesh Tov. Stay safe and well!
