Dear Aneinu Members,
In this week's parsha, Miketz, Yosef Hatzaddik is freed from prison. In the blink of an eye, Yosef's life is transformed. From living in the depths of prison, Yosef is suddenly appointed the viceroy of Mitzraim, the second most powerful man in the country. So too, when Hashem brings the geulah shlema, it will happen in the blink of an eye. As it says in kappitel 126, "We will be like dreamers. Then our mouth will be filled with laughter and our tongue with glad song."
The light of the menorah, is the light of the "ohr haganuz", the light that was hidden away after shining for 36 hours at the beginning of creation. The 36 hours correspond to the 36 candles that are lit over the eight days of Chanukah. Hashem set this light aside for the time of Mashiach. As we gaze into the burning flames of the menorah, we are connecting to that sublime light.
This special Shabbos of Chanukah and Rosh Chodesh, may we all be zoche to feel the kedusha of that holy light of the Ohr Haganuz, the light of Mashiach. And, just as Yosef Hatzaddik's life was miraculously transformed in the blink of an eye, may our world be transformed to one of light and holiness with the revelation of Hashem's glory and the coming of Mashiach bimhera b'yomeinu. Amen.
Please remember to say your Tehillim this Shabbos! As the days are now much shorter, it is perfectly fine to say your Tehillim on Friday night. You may check the Shabbos Tehillim spreadsheet if you are unsure which kappitlach you signed up for.
