Public Safety Update Dear Neighbor, I am very upset to report that there was a shooting this morning near the intersection of Devon and Western. The victim was shot in the arm and is currently in the hospital in stable condition. Area 3 detectives are investigating, but the police believe it was an isolated incident and does not pose a threat to the general public. At approximately 8 AM, a male victim was struck by gunfire from an offender in the vehicle next to him while driving in traffic at the 6400 block of N. Western. The victim suffered several gunshot wounds to the right arm. He drove himself to St. Francis Hospital. The safety and security of this community is my chief priority, and I am as frustrated by this incident as you are. I will continue to work closely with Commander Joseph Brennan and the 24th District Police to make sure the 50th Ward remains a safe place to live and work. This is an ongoing investigation.
