COMMUNITY ALERT
Early Saturday Morning (August 13th), at 4:30am the city's
blue mailbox in front of the shul was broken into and all the mail was stolen.

If you dropped mail into the blue mailbox after the last pickup - or on your way into shul Friday nightYour mail was stolen.

What does this mean to you?

The Postal Inspector just left our shul after reviewing the cameras that recorded the incident.
Postal service Inspector advise to everyone in our neighborhood:

  • Never drop off mail in blue boxes after the last pick-up has occured.
  • If possible Never put mail in the blue boxes over the weekend
  • The north side of Chicago is a very high risk right now. Many, many mailboxes on street corners have been broken into, and mail stolen.
  • If you discover a check has been compromised: Call your bank right away!
  • Report the theft to the Postal inspectors office.
  • If possible, only drop off mail (during the DAYTIME) at the post office, or hand it to your mail carrier.
  • Unfortunatly: even the Blue boxes in front of the post offices have been hit multiple times. Late in the evenings and over the weekend. Again! Only put mail into the boxes before the last pickup!

The inspector parting words: "Basically - use your post office and not the blue boxes if possible"
