Dear Friend,

You are part of a growing community of women joining together monthly on Rosh Chodesh for inspiration and connection. Chodesh Sivan marks the beginning of the process of receiving the Torah. The Bnei Yisrael arrived at the foot of the mountain and encamped there awaiting Moshe's directives. The Posuk states famously in Shemot 19:3 "and he encamped" rather than "and they encamped" to emphasize the sense of unity and single-mindedness of the people as they prepared to accept the Torah. Every morning, we echo this theme as we recite the portion from the Mishnah Pe'ah, Elu Devarim, these are the deeds. The items listed in this Mishnah - Torah study and acts of kindness are not disputed unlike the texts of other Mishnayot. We start our day with a sense of agreement and unity, demonstrating with our Tefillah that these themes are valuable to all. With this same spirit of unity, we begin the month of Sivan united in our acceptance of the Torah.

Please join the OU Women's Initiative at ou.org/women/rc on May 21 at 12 noon EST for our virtual Rosh Chodesh Sivan shiur with Rebbetzin Rachel Yaghobian.

Rachel Yaghobian is the Rebbitzen of Cong. Torah Vachesed in Houston, Texas. Originally from Eretz Yisrael and LA, Rachel and her husband, Rabbi Avraham Yaghobian have lived in town for 23 years. Over the years they have opened a Day school, Shul and Mikva. Rachel is also a Kalla teacher, mikva director, bodekes and doula. Rachel teachers Torah classes both locally and nationally. She is a sought after guest speaker both in person and on-zoom. Rachel's easygoing, caring and warm nature make her an attractive Rebbitzen for many to confide in, and seek her guidance and support.

Chodesh Tov,
