In the wake of the tragic events of Shmini Atzeres/Simchas Torah, Agudath Israel has hosted numerous in-person and virtual meetings across the country with members of Congress to discuss the situation in Israel, what the government can do to help, and how it's affecting their constituents in the US. The discussions served as an opportunity to thank elected officials for their support and to provide an opportunity for community members to speak directly with government leaders. Speaking with legislators is an effective way of communicating our community's needs and concerns and maintaining positive relationships between our community and the government. All the congressmembers we met with are unwaveringly supportive of our cause; they are grateful for the opportunity to communicate with their constituents. Additionally, they all urge their constituents to continue being vocal and speaking to their elected officials to express their concerns and maintain open channels of communication. These meetings are in addition to the more than 10,000 people who contacted their members of Congress via Agudah's action alerts that have focused on specific requests such as condemning Hamas, supporting Israel 's right to defend itself, freeing hostages, and the most recent push to increase the federal nonprofit security grant program from $305 M to $500 M.
You can make your voice heard by contacting your members of congress and encouraging them to support an increase in the Nonprofit Security Grant Program. Take action by clicking here. |
