נגיל ונשיש בזאת התורה כי היא לנו עוז ואורה

We begin with a hearty Mazel Tov to the thousands of Mesaymim - those who concluded chelek Yud Daled. Dancing on Simchas Torah with Likkutei Sichos in our hands and in our heads was certainly so much more meaningful and uplifting.

We also extend a Welcome, and a Welcome Back, as we begin Chumash Breishis, we will be learning Chelek Yud - as part of the plan to complete the 5 volumes 10-14 Breishis-Devarim by the upcoming Yud Shevat.

This week's Sichos
This week, we begin Chelek Yud.
As part of the plan to complete the 5 volumes 10-14 Breishis-Devarim by the upcoming Yud Shevat.

חלק י • בראשית • שיחה א

כח מעשיו הגיד לעמו לתת להם נחלת גויים
Rashi's first teaching is a general lesson in life: Not to be affected by the naysayers. Even if "the nations" will claim, as did the spies, that materialism cannot be transformed to holiness, we can answer that Hashem created the physical world for the sole purpose of becoming a Dira B'tachtonim.

ויאמר אלקים יהי אור
Why was light the first thing to be created, especially since Hashem concealed it until the end of time? Since light is the ultimate purpose of creation, it is the "original thought" which contains all subsequent actions. This teaches us a powerful lesson about the potential that lies in the beginning of each day.

ויאמר הנחש וגו׳ - כי עשית זאת
According to Rashi, one of the snake's punishments was losing its power of speech, and now it cannot even make sounds like other animals. This is obvious, since its power of speech caused the sin. We can derive from this the power of transformation to the good as well.
