Subject: [chicago-aneinu] Please Say your Tehillim on Shabbos
BS"D
Dear Aneinu Members,
B"H the warm weather has arrived! The trees are covered with leaves, the grass is green and lush, and the sweet scent of flowers and the chirping of birds fills the air. We have so much to be grateful for! Hashem created a beautiful world for us, to show us just how much he loves us! His fingerprints are on everything and we need to open our eyes and really see the intricacy and complexity of every creation, and recognize the tremendous kindness of Hashem. As Rabbi Avigdor Miller zt"l would say, "A fruit is a miracle!". So is every flower, every bird, and every human being. Just as a beautiful painting shows that there is an artist who painted it, every creation shows that there is a Creator. We need to open up our eyes and see Hashem's majesty in the magnificent world that he created for us, and appreciate his unbelievable chesed.
This recognition of Hashem's kindness can help us during this time of sefiras haomer, a time of striving to improve our middos. By developing our sense of hakaros hatov for the awesome gifts Hashem has given us, we can be inspired to emulate Hashem by doing kindness for others. Just as Hashem showed tremendous chesed by taking the Jewish people out of Mitzraim, even though they were on the 49th level of tumah, so we too can overlook the failings of others and help them when they are in need. The Jewish people who left Mitzraim transformed themselves to the highest levels during these seven weeks, so too may we be zoche to much hatzlacha as we climb the 49 levels of purity in our efforts to be worthy to receive the Torah this Shavuos.
Please remember to say your Tehillim this Shabbos. B"H the days are longer now, but It is still perfectly fine to say your Tehillim on Friday night. You may check the Shabbos Tehillim spreadsheet if you are unsure which kappitlach you signed up for.
Wishing you all a peaceful Shabbos,
Chaya Miriam
