Passover Meals for Patients

  • All of the major area hospitals carry a full supply of kosher-for-Passover meals during the holiday.
  • CMC will store a sufficient quantity of kosher-for-Passover meals to be available for patients in case hospitals or care facilities run out of supplies.
  • CMC will also - upon request - deliver kosher-for-Passover catered meals to all hospital patients during the holiday. Also upon request, the CMC will deliver matzah (regular or handmade shmurah) or other Seder articles to hospital patients in need of these items. Please note that in order to facilitate proper arrangements, these requests to the CMC should be made in advance, if possible.
  • Throughout the holiday, CMC's hospitality suites (adjacent to Skokie, Evanston and Lutheran General hospitals) will be open. For more information, please call the CMC office.
  • At this time of year it is critically important for patients to bear in mind that it is quite common for food service workers in hospitals and care facilities to be unaware of the changes that apply to the Jewish diet on Passover. It is therefore halachically incumbent upon the patient to carefully check the contents of the tray that is being served, and to explicitly refuse to accept any meal or food item that does not bear a kosher-for-Passover stamp.
