Parshat Bereishit with Reb Chaim Kramer

BRI WEEKLY UPDATES
There are no words in which we can describe the horrors; everyone is asking what to do?

The answer is, I don't know!

What I can say is that, according to Rebbe Nachman, we must strengthen ourselves in faith that everything is from Hashem.

We must isolate ourselves and pray for the Jewish people, and we must dance and clap our hands for the sake of the sweetening of judgments.

We are not allowed to be dragged into sadness and depression imposed on us, especially by the media.

We are not allowed to seek blame, nor can we ignore the reality that has occurred.

On the one hand, we must believe, and on the other hand, we should not run from reality. We are indeed in a true exile.

May it be His will that we merit true redemption soon in our days. Amen.

BRI PARSHAH TIDBITS
"In the beginning, God created." (Genesis 1:1)

Rashi, the primary commentary on the Torah, brings the Midrash to explain the reason for the Torah's beginning with "Bereishit" and not with the first commandment given to the Jewish people. This is to convey that God created the world in the beginning, and He willingly granted it to the nations that resided in it before the Jewish people. He then took it from them, giving it to us.

Reb Noson asks, why did a land as holy as the Land of Israel indeed have to pass through the hands of the impure nations, who made it impure, before Am Yisrael received it? Why didn't the holy nation get it immediately?

He answers that here we see God's tremendous kindness with the Jewish people. The Land of Israel is a land of holiness that cannot tolerate impurity. If the Jewish people would have received it immediately and, God forbid, sinned, it wouldn't have been possible for the holiness to be revealed again.

Nevertheless, because it passed through the hands of the nations, God's supervision over it was hidden, and it became impure to the point that even if, God forbid, the Jewish people sin, the concealed holiness remains there. It will give us the opportunity to receive true redemption in the end.

May it be His will to reveal the light of the high, hidden Torah to us in the depths of the darkness in which we find ourselves. Amen.

May Hashem truly enlighten our hearts with the joy and light of Shabbos!
