Dear Friend,

You are part of a growing community of women joining together monthly on Rosh Chodesh for inspiration and connection. Rosh Chodesh Shevat marks the date when Moshe Rabbeinu began his final address to the Jewish people in the desert. In the book of Devarim, Moshe inspires the people with a repetition of select mitzvot, words of encouragement and admonition as he bids them farewell. The Sages liken this date to the day of the giving of the Torah. Just as the sixth of Sivan marks the date when we annually accept the Torah, Rosh Chodesh Shevat remains an auspicious time to renew our dedication and commitment, as the repetition of the Torah's inspiring messages began on this date.

Please join the OU Women's Initiative at ou.org/women/rc on January 11 at 12 noon EST for our virtual Rosh Chodesh Shevat shiur with Mrs. Ariella Nadel.

Ariella Nadel has been a Tanach teacher and community educator for the past twenty-five years. Until making Aliyah to Modi'in three years ago, she was a Tanach teacher and experiential educator at Farber Hebrew Day School- Yeshivat Akiva in Southfield, Michigan.  Ariella currently teaches at seminaries, is an adult educator for the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit and is a Nach curriculum developer for the online educational platform at Kitah.org. She is also a featured blogger for the Times of Israel.  Ariella earned a pedagogue degree from Michlalah Jerusalem College in Bayit V'Gan and holds degrees in Judaic Studies and Political Science from Yeshiva University and a law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
