We hope this letter finds you well. As we reflect on the meaning of Purim and the importance of unity and generosity, we wanted to express our deepest gratitude for your continuous support in making this year's celebrations even more special. This year's Purim held special significance amidst the challenges faced by our community. Your contributions took on an enhanced sense of importance, serving as a beacon of hope and resilience for those affected by the war. They were also fulfilled in memory of Meir Mishkoff z'l, who founded this program over 25 years ago. His love for Eretz Yisrael, Am Yisrael and especially Chayalei Tzahal, has been the guiding light of this initiative, inspiring us to carry on his vision and to bring joy and support to those in need.
Through your donations, we were able to honor Meir's legacy by accomplishing the following this year:
· Delivered approximately 5,500 Mishloach Manot to IDF soldiers stationed throughout Israel including in Gaza, on the Lebanese border and throughout Yehuda and Shomron
· Delivered over 1,000 mishloach manot to displaced families, providing joy and support to those displaced from their homes. All products were sourced from small businesses in the North and South of Israel, helping small business owners impacted by the war
· Provided for 600 Purim Seudot to those in need
· Distributed 30 Megillot Esther to IDF units, ensuring that all chayalim (including those serving throughout Gaza and inside Shifa hospital) were able to hear megillah from a klaf
· Allocated close to $60,000 of Matanayot Levyonim for displaced families and chayalim in need
· Sponsored Purim Seudot and entertainment for injured soldiers and their families, in Tel Hashomer, Ichilov and Loewenstein Hospitals
· Sponsored a Seudah BBQ in the Shomron for 200 soldiers
· Hosted a carnival for children of displaced families in the southern Kibbutz of Kfar Maimon
All these events were filled with much needed laughter and smiles, and the Mishloach Manot packages were a thoughtful reminder of the love and care that exists within our community. Included in this message you will find a collection of thank you emails we received, as well as videos (see link below) and pictures (some that were taken inside Gaza), which showcase the various events made possible by your generous contributions. These memories serve as a testament to the joy and comfort that your support has brought to the lives of IDF soldiers who dedicate their lives to protecting our country, the families facing hardships and those simply needing a helping hand.
As we continue to honor Meir Mishkoff's memory, we are reminded of the power of unity and the impact that our actions can have on the lives of others. In these difficult times, your support is a testament to the unity and strength of Am Yisrael. We look forward to continuing our partnership in the future, honoring Meir's memory, and celebrating the resilience and spirit of the Jewish people.
With heartfelt appreciation and wishing you a Chag Kasher V'sameach,
American Friends of Yisrael Hatzair
