What Happens to a Partnership When a Partner Dies?

Question: Reuven and Shimon are partners in a business venture. Unfortunately, Reuven became ill and passed away. What happens now with the partnership?

CLICK BELOW TO WATCH THE VIDEO

Presented By Rav Yitzchak Grossman

Answer: The halachic rule is that if either partner dies, the other partner has the right to tell the heirs that he only agreed to be a partner with their father and not with them. Since he never committed to partner with them, he has the right to terminate the partnership.

The heirs can say likewise to the other partner. Although their father committed to partner with him, they never did; therefore, they have the right to dissolve the partnership if they so desire.

Q: Do I have to wash my hands after shaving?

A: Rav Avrohom Chaim Agishtein responds:

The Shulchan Aruch Oh"c 4:19 writes that a person should wash their hands after a haircut because of רוח רעה. It is said over in the name of Rav Moshe Feinstein (Divrei Chachamim 1:8) and Rav Shlomo Z. Auerbach (Halichos Shlomo 2:10), that this only applies to one who is cutting the hair of their head. One who is shaving their beard or removing any other body hair would not have to wash their hands afterward.

Yahalom Mother's Walking Track

Yahalom Chicago hosted the 2nd "Walk With Us" event last Tuesday night at the Robert Crown Community Center. Mothers of children with special needs spent time together while walking on the Robert Crown indoor track discussing common concerns, situations, and solutions regarding their children with special needs. They continued the conversation in a private room next to the track with snacks and a sense of community.
