This year Jews all over the world are feeling the dark cloud of hatred and antisemitism. The antidote? More menorahs, more Jews doing Jewish things in public, and more Chanukah light over darkness! Amazingly, it's exactly 50 years since the first ever public menorah — at Philadelphia's Independence Mall — was lit, changing the public face of Judaism forever. Be sure to attend a public menorah lighting, snap a pic, post it on social media and make the world a brighter place (if you tag us @ChabadOrg and add the hashtag #ShareTheLights we'll enter you into a raffle for an Amazon gift card). And as we add another flame each night (taking care to light on Friday afternoon before the Shabbat candles, and on Saturday night after Shabbat is over), revel in the additional gift of spiritual light that each one brings. With wishes for a Chanukah filled with spiritual light, - Your Friends @ Chabad.org |
