| "Indeed, the matter has become known." (Shemot 2:14) When Datan and Aviram quarreled and revealed how the Egyptian had been killed, Moshe said, "Indeed, the matter has become known." From here we learn that the suffering of the Jewish people stems solely from informers and internal strife among Jews. Reb Noson asks a penetrating question: Among the nations of the world there are endless disputes and wars—so what is uniquely severe about discord specifically among Jews? The answer is that the root of every Jewish soul comes from the honor of HaShem. A Jew comes into this world to increase the honor of HaShem, and his entire essence and life-force are bound to honor. Therefore, when one Jew quarrels with another, it is not merely a personal conflict—it causes a blemish in Divine honor. The very existence of Creation depends on the honor of HaShem as it is revealed through the souls of Israel. Tragically, today we feel the depth of the division and the abyss of hatred that exists among us. Just days ago, an innocent young man was run over and killed as a result of the legitimization of bloodshed against those who observe Torah and mitzvot. "Indeed, the matter has become known." But when we recognize and truly believe that our mission is to increase brotherhood and love among our fellow Jews, the honor of HaShem will grow, and the final redemption will arrive. We believe and we await the coming of the Redeemer—may it be speedily in our days, amen. Shabbat Shalom |
