Our Response to Events in Eretz Yisroel – Erev Shavuos 5781
In light of the current situation in Eretz Yisroel, Agudath Israel of America has undertaken a major advocacy effort urging our elected officials to stand by Israel at this dangerous time. We thank all who have already reached out to their senators and congressmembers, and we urgently call upon our constituents across the United States to participate in this important advocacy campaign.

At the same time, as ma'aminim b'nei ma'aminim, firm believers that all is in the Hands of Hashem, we know that the main address toward Whom we must direct our advocacy efforts is Hakadosh Boruch HuEileh vorechev v'eileh va'susim, when our enemies assault us with barrages of deadly rockets, va'anachnu b'sheim Hashem Elokeinu nazkir, our response is to call out to Hashem – and when we do, heimah kar'u v'nofolu va'anachnu kamnu va'nisodad, our adversaries are vanquished and we stand strengthened. Clearly, now is a time when we must intensify our tefillah, beseeching the King of Kings to have mercy on His children, Klal Yisroel, and deliver us from the hands of our enemies.

Several years ago, when our brothers and sisters in Eretz Yisroel were facing an onslaught of murderous terror attacks, the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of America issued a heartfelt plea calling upon Jews to strengthen themselves in tefillah, with increased levels of concentration and sincerity.

In particular, the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah emphasized the importance of davening with a minyan; coming on time for Shacharis and saying the entirety of Psukei D'zimrah; avoiding talking during tefillah and Krias HaTorah; and, for both men and women, reciting three chapters of Tehillim – 83 (Shir mizmor l'Asaf), 130 (Shir hama'alos mi'ma'amakim), and 142 (Maskil l'Dovid).

Now, as then, the power of tefillah is incalculable.

As we stand at the threshold of Zman Matan Toraseinu, when we renew our special bond with the Nosein HaTorah, let us pour out our hearts and storm the heavens with our prayers. The Shomei'a Tefillah is waiting.
Pirchei Agudas Yisroel of Cincinnati's Hasmodah Program Celebration
Before Shavuos over 120 men and boys joined to celebrate the Pirchei Agudas Yisroel of Cincinnati's incredible Hasmodah program. Young boys accompanied by their fathers, joined in a BBQ seudah recognizing the boy's accomplishment of learning over Pesach in their own free time.

This Pesach, Rabbi Shai Scherer, Pirchei Agudas Yisroel director and event/program coordinator, celebrated the 75% of the boys in Cincinnati Hebrew Day School who spent collectively over 350 hours learning Torah over their school break. "The school doors may be closed but the learning never stops," he exclaimed.

Mr. Melech Mann, proud father of three boys who participated, shared a story about how Rabbi Shlomo Freifeld z'l, used a bein hazmanim trip to a pizza restaurant in the Lower East Side for a higher purpose.

Rabbi Weinrib, the Morah Di-Asrah of CZE, followed that story by sharing the following message with these boys; "Mesiras Nefesh is giving up what's important to you. Giving up free time, for a boy, is an act of mesiras nefesh and demonstrates their love for the Torah and for Hakadosh Boruch Hu." He commended the boys for the mesiras nefesh that went into learning a record-breaking 350 hours voluntarily over the Pesach break.

The boys enjoyed a delicious BBQ Gala Seuda and were then presented with awards, as well as gift certificates to the local Seforim store, Yaacov's Place, Kinneret Grill or Play it Again Sports.

Rabbi Scherer and Pirchei Agudas Yisroel of Cincinnati hope to continue on this monumental accomplishment and to grow even further over the next Bein Hazmanim.
