Strengthening Torah Life. Advocating for the Community. Serving Each Individual.

News from the Agudah:

  • Agudas Yisroel of America is deeply saddened by the petirah of Horav Elya Fisher zt'l. See below for full statement.

  • Why support the Agudah? Is the Agudah more important than any other organization that works on behalf of the frum community? Our perspective is that it is not more important – every organization is important and deserves support from the tzibbur. The Agudah is different. It is because of the Agudah that many of these organizations were able to begin their own avodas hakodesh. The entire environment of frumkeit in America has been – and continues to be – shaped by the work the Agudah does around the country. So supporting the Agudah also makes it possible for the entire frum community to benefit from many other important mosdos, organizations, and institutions. Please help today – on the eve of our national fundraising effort – by making a generous contribution to the Agudah's campaign. Please click here.

  • Are you someone who wants to know more about what the Agudah does? We're going to be hosting a special Agudah Live! on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm EDT, where you'll be able to hear all about it through some special guests, by going to AgudahStrong.org.

  • Siyum on Succah this Thursday! The Torah Projects Commission of Agudas Yisroel is excited to announce that they will be having a siyum on Meseches Succah this Thursday. See below for more details and how to join.

  • Last week we held a webinar on how to avoid the five most costly mistakes on ERTC. Click here for a recording of the webinar.

  • Yarchei Kallah will continue this week on Inyanei Yom HaKippurim U'Teshuvah. See below for this week's schedule.

Horav Elya Fisher zt'l
Agudas Yisroel of America is deeply saddened by the besura lo tova from Eretz Yisroel regarding the petirah of Horav Elya Fisher zt'l. Rav Fisher was one of the prime talmidim of the Bais Yisroel of Gur ztvk'l, who sent the young talmid chochom to America to become the Rosh Kollel of Chasidei Gur and help lead the community of Gerrer chasidim in the Unites States.

In addition to Rav Fisher's prominence in Gur, he served for many years as a member of the Nesius (Rabbinic Presidium) of Agudas Yisroel of America, where he played a major leadership role in the growth of the Agudah movement in the United States. He enjoyed a close relationship with the late president of Agudas Yisroel, Rabbi Moshe Sherer z'l, and was a frequent speaker at Agudah conventions and other organizational events. A highlight was the drosha Rav Fisher delivered at the Ninth Siyum Hashas Daf Yomi at Madison Square Garden in 1990 (see video above). His loss is a major blow.

Y'hei zichro boruch.

Siyum on Succah
Every Succos, each one of us entrusted with the responsibility of constructing a valid succah. But how many of us have a real grasp on the halachic and practical nuances to properly create this complex halachic structure. There are six full chapters in Shulchan Aruch dedicated solely to Succah construction. Without delving into the laws, can we just assume that we are doing it right? How about the cherished mitzva of daled minim? Are we confident that our prize pick really passes halachic muster?

This Thursday, as Daf Yomi participants worldwide mark their completion of Maseches Succah, Agudas Yisroel of America's Daf Yomi Commission presents סוכות למעשה a truly essential visual presentation that will practically guide you on the essential mitzvos of the Yom Tov. The program will include Divrei chizuk from HaRav Zev Cohen, a renowned speaker and the Rav in Khal Adas Yeshurin of Chicago.

The divrei chizuk will be accompanied by a highly-anticipated visual succah presentation by Rabbi Shlomo Francis and Rabbi Yonason Glenner. Rabbis Francis and Glenner are well-known for their groundbreaking sefer and shiurim that present the most complex area of hilchos eruvin in a way that the layman can actually comprehend. Their unique shiurim weave together fundamental halachic concepts with striking illustrations and carefully chosen footage to provide the audience a wide-ranging understanding in a few transformational moments. On the advice of Rav Chaim Kanievsky shlit'a, they recently expanded their talents to the related topic of succah; and over the past weeks, have presented their series of captivating succah shiurim to eager and engaged audiences nationwide.

The Siyum event will encompass an essential presentation from Rabbi Avi Wiesenfeld, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Bais Dovid. This presentation will prepare the audience for yet another timely mitzva of choosing arbah minim. This fascinating and informative demonstration covers remarkable ground in a wide variety of essential arbeh minim topics, and will prepare the audience for their upcoming arbeh minim purchase!

Whether you are culminating a 55-day journey through Succah, or simply seek an essential education about these fundamental aspects of our halachic world… mark your calendars! This is a once-in-a-lifetime event in which you certainly want to participate.

Join The siyum and succah presentation THIS Thursday, September 2nd at 8 PM ET at Torahanytime.com/AgudahTorah or 718.298.2077 x 52
