On Jan. 18, the OU Advocacy Center, together with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, convened a Zoom briefing with senior U.S. government officials including Attorney General Merrick Garland, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, FBI Director Christopher Wray, White House Director of Faith Partnerships Melissa Rogers and others in the wake of the terrible event in Colleyville, Texas.

Earlier this week, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced exciting news about funding for Jewish day schools and yeshivot in her proposed budget. Her recommended increases in funding to support nonpublic schools amounts to an estimated 18% increase, one of the largest percentage increases seen in the education portion of the governor's budget. Included in the budget is $55 million for STEM teachers and $45 million in security funding. Now's your chance to thank her and show her support from our community.
