Subject: [chicago-aneinu] Please Say your Tehillim on Shabbos
BS"D
Dear Aneinu Members,
This was a very difficult week. Multiple terror acts in Eretz Yisroel have shocked us to the core. The horror of a young father, R' Avishai Yechezkel, hy'd, out for a walk with his two year old and being murdered in front of his child in cold blood, is impossible to comprehend. The fact that it happened in Bnei Brak, a city steeped in Torah and kedusha, and the home of the Sar haTorah, HaRav Chaim Kanievsky zt"l, who was just recently taken from us, makes our pain and grief even more profound. How can we possibly process something so unfathomable?
Although we can't possibly understand Hashem's ways, we do know what chazal tell us about the end of days. We must come to the realization of Ein Od Milvado. It is all about emunah. Emunah is the challenge of our generation. Naama Yechezkel, R' Yechezkel's wife, who is eight months pregnant, said that although she is broken and in terrible pain, ultimately she knows that everything Hashem does is for the best. She doesn't understand why it is good, but she knows it is good. Her emunah is breathtaking.
We live in a world that believes it can control everything and it wants Hashem out of the picture. Our job is to see Hashem in everything and to bring Him into every aspect of our lives, and to realize that we cannot survive without Him. We must beg and plead for Hashem to save us from this all encompassing darkness. The darkness of a world that is void of anything G-dly. Hashem sends pain and difficulties to bring us to the realization of Ein Od Milvado, we have no control, and He wants our tears and our tefillos because they connect us to Him and bring Him into our world.
Tonight we celebrate Rosh Chodesh Nissan, a month filled with potential of spiritual growth and miracles. It was the first time the avodah was performed in the mishkan, and it was the first day that the shechina descended into the mishkan. Let's make the most of this special day, concentrate a little more when we daven, and try to strengthen our connection to Hashem and bring Him into our world. May we soon see a world that instead of being filled with darkness, is filled with the beautiful light and glory of Hashem; a world of peace, and tranquility, and joy, and may we all be zoche to greet Mashiach tzidkenu bimhera b'yomeinu!
Please remember to say your Tehillim this Shabbos! B"H the days are getting longer. It is still perfectly fine to say your Tehillim on Friday night. You may check the Shabbos Tehillim spreadsheet if you are unsure which kappitlach you signed up for.
Wishing you all a peaceful Shabbos,
Chaya Miriam
