Dear Aneinu Members,
This Shabbos is Shabbos Hagadol. According to Rabbi Rafael Avitan it is a great eis ratzon, a time of favor and great light. The Chozeh of Lublin writes that all harsh judgements are sweetened on Shabbos Hagadol and it can raise us to a higher level.
Rabbi Avitan says it is suggested that we read the Magid section from the hagaddah from "Avadim Hayinu" through "Dayeinu", and in the paragraph following "Dayeinu" read until the last sentence "L'chaper al avonateinu" to atone for our sins. After we should say Tikun Haklali which consists of kappitlach 16, 32, 41, 42 59, 77, 90, 105, 137 and 150.
The Chidushei Harim said that on this Shabbos every tefilla, Tehillim, and word of Torah that is said is equivalent to 50 Shabbosim.
Although we are not supposed to make physical requests on Shabbos, we can daven for anything spiritual, especially the geulah shlema.
We are now living in the days of miracles and redemption from Mitzraim. Shabbos Hagadol commemorates the great miracle of the Jews risking their lives by taking lambs, the deity of Mitzraim, and tying them to their bedposts to be used for the korban Pesach. The Egyptians were furious, but were helpless to do anything due to Hashem's protection. The Jewish people lived in a world similar to ours. Egypt was steeped in immorality, corruption, idolatry, and anti-semitism. The country they lived in was turned upside down with one natural disaster after another. Yet, their emunah and bitachon in Hashem gave them the courage to go against the society they lived in.
As our world is filled with uncertainty and conflict, as we are bombarded with news of terror attacks in Israel and anti-semitic violence here in America, and worldwide, as the political environment is filled with hate and division, as our world seems to be on the brink of disaster, we hold on to our emunah and bitachon and joyously look forward to re-experiencing the redemption at our seder tables. We are not afraid, and we do not lose hope. We know with complete certainty that Hashem is guiding us, protecting us, and taking care of us, and we know that the ultimate geulah is coming, because Hashem promised us it would. Although he may tarry, nevertheless we yearn every day for the coming of Mashiach and the revelation of Hashem's glory. This Shabbos Hagadol, let us tell Hashem that we are ready and waiting, that we yearn to have a real relationship with Him. Let us tell Him that we really do believe, Ein Od Milvado, we rely only on Hashem and nothing else, and may we all soon merit to say, "This year in Yerushalayim."
Please remember to say your Tehillim this Shabbos! B"H the days are getting longer. It is still perfectly fine to say your Tehillim on Friday night. You may check the Shabbos Tehillim spreadsheet if you are unsure which kappitlach you signed up for.
