Finally, we note the petirah of Rabbi Naftoli Borchardt z'l, son of longtime Agudah leader Rabbi Boruch Borchardt z'l. R' Naftoli was a prominent member of the Bensonhurst Torah community. He suffered debilitating ailments and severe yisurim in his later years, yet always maintained a seiver ponim yofos. He followed in his father's footsteps as a staunch Agudist and would frequently discuss matters pertaining to Agudas Yisroel and Klal Yisroel with Agudah leaders. His son, Reuven Borchardt, inherited the family's passion for Klal Yisroel, and is now a respected journalist for Hamodia. Reb Naftoli's seichel ha'yoshor and keen sense of history made him a respected figure in the world of Agudas Yisroel. His sudden petirah is a terrible loss. Y'hei zichro boruch.
School Choice
This week was National School Choice Week. There is a renewed momentum towards universal school choice across the country and Agudath Israel is at the forefront of that battle. Yesterday, a $10 billion scholarship tax credit bill was reintroduced in Congress, which Agudah strongly supports and helped craft (see Cassidy press release here). Above are pictures of Agudah directors from different school choice events across the country, including the Congressional School Choice Caucus event with Capitol Hill leaders and allies.
Look out for an expanded and comprehensive report on Agudah's school choice activities, together with ways you can get involved, coming to your inbox next week.
